Menstrie Community Council

Message from the Community Council Chairman, November 2008

As you are reading this I hope that the installation of our new Village Sculpture is complete and that you all enjoy the superb artwork that Andy Scott has made for us. We have been fortunate in seeing the work at various stages of its production and it has been intriguing to watch the development of the piece.

There is still a fair amount of work to be carried out in Mid-town gardens and their surrounds which, when complete, should give the Village a real centre and focus, enhancing the natural beauty of the hills.

A subgroup from the Community Council has met to look at taking the successful Village Fete and Gala forward to next year. It has been agreed to develop the week and introduce new events and entertainment, building on feedback and ideas from this year's events.

There is however one main stumbling block for the Gala Day in particular, PEOPLE. We are not looking for full time commitment - simply a commitment to assist, take on a project, and utilise skills or contacts to make it all happen. Please get in touch if you are interested.

As our next event is Carols Around The Tree, I look forward to seeing you there, vocal chords exercised and raring to go, and take this opportunity to wish everyone who lives in this beautiful village a Happy, Peaceful Christmas and New Year.

Les Sharp, Chairman

December 2008
