Menstrie Community Council

Message from the Chair, March 2015

The recent Carol Singing held in Menstrie Parish Church Hall again proved to be a most enjoyable evening and great success, everyone having a pleasant time. Once again our thanks go to the Parish Church for providing the excellent refreshments and also to Santa for stopping of at Menstrie during his busy schedule.

The next event will be our ever popular Easter Duck Race. This will be held on Sunday April 5th and hopefully we will be enjoying some spring sunshine on that day. Further details will be published on posters and in the press nearer the time of the event.

At the present the Community Garden is lying pretty much dormant. However, looking forward to the Springtime, it is hoped that things will be up and running again by way of planting out the raised beds and making use of the Poly tunnel for various plants.

As I have mentioned previously it is the intention to have the garden open in daylight hours. Everyone is encouraged to come in, have a look, help out and share any tips as to all matters gardening. Security lighting and cameras have recently been installed within the garden area.

During the next month or so it is hoped that the wild flower meadow at the West End approach to the village will be extended making it even more attractive, maybe even spectacular, again. This area was certainly a very pleasant talking point last year around the village and well beyond.

Arrangements regarding this year's Gala and Fete Week are well under way. There are of course lots of loose ends to be sorted and in this respect anyone who can come forward with any suggestions, etc, would be made very welcome.

Further updates about the Fete and Gala will be produced during the coming months.

Stan Paterson, Chairman
