Menstrie Community Council
Message from the Chair, in Mentrie Matters, May 2015
The Easter Duck Race held on Easter Sunday was once again a most enjoyable afternoon. Fortunately, the sun shone upon us that day and it is thanks to everyone who came along and joined in the fun. The programme for the Fete Week and Gala Day is highlighted in the latest issue of Menstrie Matters. Just let us hope that again the weather will be kind to us during the event.
The Community Garden is open during the day now. Over the next few weeks it is hoped that the raised beds and poly tunnel will be planted out. As mentioned in other issues, please visit the Garden and share any thoughts or suggestions as to how we can make full use of the area. At the moment, it seems that there is still a lot of people wondering where the garden is, so a number of direction signs will be put in place in due course.
For Saturday 30th May, we have organised a Village Litter Pick-Up. We will be ably assisted by members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints of Alloa who have volunteered to help clean up our village. Anyone wishing to join in should meet at the Scout hall at 10.00am. Bags and litter pickers will be provided, so an hour or two tidying up around the area should be time well spent. I am sure that everyone appreciates that we live in a very attractive area and that it should not be spoiled by bits and pieces of litter lying all over the place.
As summer approaches, I hope we can look forward to the forthcoming events and also that the flower tubs and hanging baskets will be made ready to provide colourful displays during the next few months.
