Menstrie Community Council

Message from the Chair, in Menstrie Matters, November 2016

As the Festive Season is fast approaching we can look forward to our annual Carol Singing in the Parish Church Hall. This is always an enjoyable evening so let us all come along and share the spirit of Christmas with everyone young and old.

At this time of year the activities in the village have mainly been confined to the tidying up ofthe various floral areas. In the Community Garden all the flowers and vegetable beds have been cleared out and daffodils and tulips have bee planted for the spring season. Over the winter months the garden will be closed but we will look forward to spring when the flowers will be in bloom again. The plant troughs on the bridge are now filled with tulips and all round the War Memorial has been tidied up.

One important event took place on September 3rd - the "Tartan Walk" - more information about this event at the link. At this point the Community Council would like to give a huge thank you to all who were involved including the sponsors and especially those who actually did the walk. This walk was done for Community funds and we very much appreciate it. The moneys raised will be directed towards future projects for the benefit of all the community. We will let you know how the money is spent.

The Gala Group met again recently to start the planning of next year's Fete Week and Gala. The group meets on the third Tuesday of the month. There will be a break in December but everything will be GO! in January. Everyone is welcome to these meetings and the more ideas we get the better things will be. I am sure everyone enjoyed the events of the last year so let us go from strength to strength.

This being the final issue of Menstrie Matters for 20l6, the Community Council would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy, Healthy and Successful New Year.

Stan Paterson, Chairman
Menstrie Community Council
