County Councillor

From Les Sharp, May 2015

By the time the May issue [of Menstrie Matters] is in your hands, the world of politics could well be a different place. However, the business at Clacks Council goes on regardless - we are in the midst of starting our work on the budget for next year. This will allow us to look at transformational change in how we deliver services and enhance our work in Making Clackmannanshire Better (MCB). This is something you will see and hear more of in the months to come.

We want Communities to get involved in how we work and have a say in how we do things. This will ensure we are doing things that matter in our towns and villages. And your involvement will be crucial, both in the decisions we make and also how we deliver services.

More locally we look forward to the coming months of activity in Menstrie, as usual all organised by your Community Council and Gala Committee. It is down to their hard work that these event take place and I would encourage everyone to get involved. Simply turning up to enjoy the event is great but giving a hand to set up and break down is welcomed by the committee. It's hard work but great fun too.

You will shortly notice work going on in the woodlands to extend the current walk along to Blairlogie. This will be the final link in the Hillfoots Way and will allow even more of our woodlands to be enjoyed.

As always I encourage you to get involved with village events but, importantly, have a great summer and stay safe.

I am available at my surgery each Tuesday between 6-7pm in the Dumyat Centre, by e-mail, by phone (07854 370 904) or by personal contact.
