County Councillor

From Les Sharp, June 2015

One-way scheme by Menstrie Castle

After many years of campaigning and discussions I am pleased to report that the one way system around the Castle area is now live. I have received one or two reports concerning people ignoring the signage but this is to be expected in the early days of the system. Our Roads Dept normally allow 4 to 5 weeks from installation prior to misuse becoming an offence. Hopefully the system will have the desired effect on parking, school safety and residents' parking issues that have plagued the scheme for so long.

Recreation

Tree work has been carried out by the OLP to the south side of the A91 bridge to allow more open vision down the Burn. Work should commence in the near future on the footpath in the woodlands to extend it to Redcar. This will complete the the Hillfoots Way in Menstrie and allow a safe walking route to Blairlogie.

Menstrie Place

Various small works have been carried out around Menstrie Place in response to residents' comments.

Miscellaneous works

The following actions have been carried out in response to enquiries:

  1. Fly tipping cleared from roadside
  2. Footpath cycleway sprayed for weeds
  3. Footpath cycleway tidied from litter by Community Justice squad
  4. 30mph sign repaired
  5. Street sweeper: The 'manual' sweep has been replaced by a mechanical sweeper. However, should there be any areas for concern, please contact Environmental Services on (01259) 452 548

Satisfaction survey

There is a survey being conducted on Citizen Space regarding Contact Centre Satisfaction. If you have had occasion to use this service please air your views in the survey.

[The Consultation ran from 1 Apr 2015 to 3 Jul 2015 - ed.]

Litter pick

To aid the litter pick on May 31st, l have organised gloves, grabs and bags from the Council. These will be delivered to me prior to the event. They will also uplift any bags of rubbish on Monday 1st June from Scout Hall area.

Community sports

Community Sports Project, I have requested confirmation that the Council will maintain the new facility, namely grass cutting etc and that a letter be sent to Moira Wiseman to that effect. This will allow funding applications to be progressed.

I am available at my surgery each Tuesday between 6-7pm in the Dumyat Centre, by e-mail, by phone (07854 370 904) or by personal contact.
