22nd World Scout Jamboree in Sweden
My Name is Jennie McRitchie. I am 15 years old and live in Menstrie and have been involved in Scouting since 2003. I am currently attending the Sauchie Explorer group.
In July 2011 I will be travelling to Sweden to attend the 22nd World Jamboree. I have been chosen as 1 of 36 Scouts from the Forth Region area and 1 of only 2 in the Clackmannanshire area.
I feel very honoured to have been given this opportunity. There will be over 40,000 scouts from over 150 countries around the world attending this event. I look forward to meeting new friends, learning about environmental responsibility and working towards increased peace and solidarity in our world.
The total cost of this trip is around £2000 per person, and we will be working hard to raise as much of that money through fund raising. We will be bag-packing and organising quiz nights, to name just a couple of things.
There are scouts all over the world less fortunate than us, and to assist them, and allow them to be able to attend this camp, our costs are set slightly higher. A very worthwhile increase I think you would agree.
We are holding a Ceilidh, in the Cochrane Hall in Alva, on Friday 01 October 2010. The evening will run from 7.30 pm until 11.30 pm. It is being run as a family night so children are welcome, if accompanied by an adult. Bring your own food and drink on the night. Tickets are priced at £5.00 and are available from firstname.lastname@example.org. We will also be running a raffle on the night.
I look forward to seeing you all there.
Jennie's mother adds:
The Ceilidh went really well and we raised £ 290 for the Sweden trip. Fund raising is continuing. We appear to be on target for raising the money needed.
I would like to say thank you for posting the information on your web site.
