During November the P2/3 class and the P6 class held a class assembly on the topics of "Under the Sea" and "India". These were very well supported by parents and thoroughly enjoyed by all who came. The next class assembly will be hosted by P3 on Friday the 24th February 2012 at 2pm.
A group of pupils, along with Miss Dryburgh and Mrs Wright, visited Claremont Primary in Alloa to find out how they run a house system. The pupils have come back to school with lots of ideas which will be shared during the Achievement Assembly on Friday, 2nd December. We are all looking forward to the exciting changes.
Having worked for Clackmannanshire Council for the past 33 years, Mrs Moyra Mitchell, one of our Supervisory Assistants will be retiring at Christmas. Mrs Mitchell has worked at Menstrie School for the past three years and has been a valuable member of staff, giving great support to the pupils. We wish her all the best for her retirement.
Parent Forum and Fund-raising Group
The Fund Raising Group have been very busy over the past month raising funds for the P2/3 whiteboard. On Friday 18th November a Body Shop night was held in the school which raised £230 and on the Saturday a busy group of parents kindly gave up their time to take part in Bag-Packing at Morrison's Supermarket. This raised £928 which is amazing. Well done to everyone who has been helping.
A whiteboard costs approximately £3000 and, following the success of the past two events, we have raised £1158. This November some of the P2/3 pupils and their families were planning on taking part in a Sponsored walk around Gartmorn Dam on Sunday 27th November. This activity was kindly organised by Mr Gordon Joyce.
On Thursday 22nd December the school will be having a Christmas Service in the Church at 9.30 am. We welcome parents and friends of the school to come to this service.
May I once again take this opportunity to thank all those who support the work of the school.
