Easter Church service
This year the Easter Church Service will take place in the school. Unfortunately we have very limited space in the hall and are unable to invite parents, carers and friends of the school to join in this end of term service. A collection will be made at the service for Comic Relief.
Sainsbury's Active Kids
The school is collecting Sainsbury's active kids vouchers. These can be brought into school and put in the box in the entrance foyer.
Once again we will be organising a whole school Health Week. This event takes place during the last week of term. Mr Pennie has been very busy organising a full schedule of events. If you are able to help during this week please contact Mr Pennie. During this week pupils and staff are able to wear sports clothes to school as we will all be involved in a variety of healthy activities.
The school blogs are available to access through the school's website. All classes continue to use their blogs to share the learning which is happening within each class. In addition to this we have set up a general school blog which will be used to share school information. Please remember that we welcome parents, carers and friends of the school to make comments on the blogs. These comments are screened by the blog administrators before getting published live on the website.
As you may be aware Clackmannanshire Council is participating in the 'Give Me Cycle Space' Campaign which launches on Monday 22nd April. As a school we will be involved in this campaign and as part of this, and with your support, we aim to offer some Bikeability training. The Active Schools team are training volunteers and coaches to deliver the bikeability sessions in schools. If you would like to be involved in this and would like to help to deliver the training to the pupils please let me know as soon as possible. There will be training courses available prior to the Easter holidays.
We are about to be part of an exciting national campaign to encourage more people to cycle to work/school, so please let me know if you can help to deliver this much-needed training.
• Burns competition
A big "Congratulations" must go to all the pupils who took part in the Alloa Burns Competition at Banchory Primary School. A special "Well done" must go to Cian McLaughlin in P5 who was the overall winner for the P4/5 section by singing "Scots Wa Hae".
Congratulations must go to the badminton team who have worked very hard learning to play badminton and who managed to come 2nd out of 15 teams in the Clackmannanshire Primary badminton league. Also a big "Thank you" to Mrs Leitch for coaching and attending the events with the team.
• Rotary quiz
Well done to the P7 quiz team, Lewis Downie, Michael Taylor, Coll Anderson, Ethan McLoughlin and Aiofe McLaughlin who took part in the Rotary Quiz on Tuesday 26th February at Alva Academy. The team did very well amongst some very strong competition.
• School orchard
Congratulations to Mrs Murray and the Eco committee who successfully completed and submitted an application form for a grant to fund an orchard within the school grounds. We now have 8 fruit trees planted at the rear of the school. We hope to be able to grow the fruits, use them in lessons and also to enjoy eating them.
