Menstrie Scout Group

Link to the Scouts' web site |d| The Scout H.Q. is a much quieter place on Mondays and Tuesdays these days with the Beaver Colony and The Cub Pack on holiday. All three sections have come to the end of another successful action packed year and will no doubt be heading off for exciting family holiday destinations.

For the scouts in the troop, however, informal meetings are still being held on Tuesday and Friday evenings to carry out much needed cleaning, maintenance and decorating of our Headquarters buildings. Soon we will begin checking and loading our trailers with our camping equipment as we get ready for Summer Camp, to be held this year on an attractive site near Morar. Summer camp this year is in the last week of the school holidays instead of the customary first week. We hope that although the camp is being held much later in the year than usual, we will be fortunate to get some very fine Summer weather.

We were delighted to welcome District Chairman and former Area Commissioner Robert Anderson to the last formal Troop Meeting of the year to present the Chief Scouts Gold Award Certificates, the highest award in the Scout section, to Patrol Leaders Abby Shiels, Lynsay Ireland, Hannah MacLean and Assistant Patrol Leader Grant Shiels - a splendid achievement and a much merited reward for three to four years of hard work and dedication.

Everyone in the Group would wish to thank the local community for the excellent support it receives for their fund raising activities particularly the recent Summer Fayre where £794.00 was raised for Group Funds. Although the total is considerably down compared with recent years - no doubt reflecting the current economic climate - it is still a significant and much appreciated sum.

If you are aged between 6 years and 14 years then come along and JOIN THE ADVENTURE.
