Menstrie Scout Group

Link to the Scouts' web site |d| All three sections, Beavers, Cubs and Scouts have returned for the new session and enjoying well attended weekly sessions.

The scouts have been kept busy over recent weeks airing, checking and packing all their camping equipment after a most enjoyable Summer camp on a very pleasant site near Morar.

The scouts spent an excellent week in this most scenic part of the west coast of Scotland with frequent visits to the nearby beach for swimming, games and sand sculpting on a splendid huge area of silver sands with spectacular views out to sea to the island of Eigg, Rum and Skye.

A splendid hike along several miles of the coast north towards Mallaig found the scouts exploring the many rock pools along the way, eventually reaching the vast area of silver sands where on the previous two days the patrols had been canoeing. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the ferry trip from Mallaig to Armadale on the island of Skye and after a short walk, a visit to the Clan MacDonald Visitor Centre. A great feature of a visit to this Centre is the special quiz for young people which challenges them to find answers to questions about features in the museum and throughout the splendid gardens. Friday afternoon spent in Mallaig brought this very successful camp to an end with everyone still swapping tales of a wonderful camp in a most beautiful area of west coast Scotland.

Don't miss next year's camp. Come along and JOIN THE ADVENTURE.
